７月最終週のお稽古は四ヶ伝の盆点でした。盛夏に相応しく涼しそうなお軸を掛けました。カワセミが清流に泳ぐ魚を窺っている画です。箱には『設色翠翁窺魚』と書かれています。
The last practice session in July was bondate, another one of the shikaden procedures. In the alcove I hung a picture of a kingfisher aiming for a fish in the river, hoping it would bring the feeling of a cool breeze into the tea room in the mid-summer.
朝咲いて夕方には閉じて一日だけしか咲かない檜扇の花が、一つか二つの蕾を毎日開いて楽しませてくれています。玄関から茶室のお床に飾替えました。お菓子は甘く煮たインゲンマメを入れた葛餅です。
Next to the scroll, I placed the blackberry lilies, which bloom only for one day. Each day another bud opens and gives us joy. I served the kuzumochi (arrow root cake) with a sweet kidney bean inside.
盆点の準備は曲水指、盆、象牙の茶杓、黒の楽茶碗。お盆には４種類あって、四方、菱形、丸、五角形があり、それぞれの浄め方があります。今日は四方盆を使いました。
Today I placed the chaire (tea container) on the square (yohobon) tray. There are three other trays with different shapes—marubon (round), gokakubon (pentagon), and hishibon (diamond)—which can be used another time. The shape of the tray determines how to clean it.
盆点のお稽古で特に注意する点は下記の通りです。茶巾、茶筅、茶杓を仕込んだ黒楽茶碗を持って入り、一端襖を閉め、居前に座って茶碗を勝手付に仮置きしてから、盆、茶入れを真にたたんだ袱紗で浄めます。そして、茶碗を膝前に置いて、建水を取りに水屋へ戻ります。この時二度襖を開け閉めしなくてはいけないのが大変です。
盆点では盆の浄め方と象牙の茶杓の浄め方を習得しなくてはいけません。茶巾を水指の上に置くときや、水指の蓋を開け閉めするときは盆の上を通るのを避けるようにします。
仕覆を脱がした唐物茶入れを盆から取る前、置く前には必ず「もみ手」をします。

茶入れ、お盆を拝見に出す時は、袱紗を行にたたんで浄めます。
客が拝見をするときは、盆と茶入れは縁外で送り、古帛紗に茶入れの蓋、茶入れを置いて拝見します。この時、客も茶入れを盆から取りだす前、盆へ返す前は「もみ手」をして茶入れを扱います。覚えなくてはいけないことが沢山ありますね。
