今週は四ヶ伝 和布点 風炉点前のお稽古の後に、もうすぐ、９月になりますので慌てて盛夏のお点前「葉蓋点前」「洗い茶巾」でお薄をいただきました。
In late August we practiced wakin-date, one of the four shikaden procedures.
掛物は涼しさを誘う金魚の画。花は玄関先の『ヤブラン』が花をつけましたので活けてみました。
In the alcove I hung a painting of goldfish and for the ikebana display, arranged lily turf leaves and flowers from my garden.
和布点は『11代玄々斎が拝領した光格天皇の御衣の裂地の伊予簾純子』または『14代淡々斎が東福門跡より拝領した唐松鈍子』の仕覆、古帛紗をもちいたお点前です。
Wakin-date was created by Gengensai (Urasenke’s 11th Head). In the original ceremony, using a piece of cloth that once belonged to Emperor Koukaku, Gengensai made a shifuku (a cloth bag) and a kofukusa (a square cloth).
茶入れは中次。『玄々斎好みの欅の献上茶入中次』か『淡々斎好みの桑の中次』とします。水指は染付、塗り蓋。茶杓は中節、茶碗は黒楽、お菓子は一種類です。
Usually the wood used for the nakatsugi tea container is either paulownia or mulberry.
和布点の注意点は和布の扱い方。中次の浄め方、扱い方。抹茶の搔き出し方。拝見の後、亭主が道具類を持ち帰る際の持ち方などが新たに覚えるべき点です。
The important parts to remember in this wakin procedure are how to clean and hold the container and as well as rake out the tea powder from it.
さて、お薄をいただくのに、水指は葉蓋にしました。この葉蓋扱いは11世玄々斎の創案で、七夕の趣向の茶会に玄々斎好みの末廣籠の花入れの受け筒を使用し,梶の葉を蓋の代わりにしたのが始まりなのだそうです。
Later, in the habuta procedure, which was also created by Gengensai for the festival of stars in July, I served a usucha (thin tea) with arai jakin. Originally a bamboo vase inside the woven basked held a flower arrangement. He used a mulberry leaf as the mizusashi lid, but today I used a green lotus leaf for the lid instead.
新たに日本でもとめてきたこの黒塗りの桧の曲に切箔を散らした水指を使いました！江戸後期から明治初頭の時代のものですが、とてもモダンですね。
I used a mizunashi made of Japanese cypress painted black with golden leaves. Its design still looks very modern considering it was made over a hundred years ago.
葉は年々大きく美しく育っている我が家の池の蓮の葉です。
洗い茶巾も夏しかできないお点前です。平茶碗に水を7分ほど注ぎ茶巾を対角線に折って、二つ折りにして茶碗の中に入れて他はいつもの通りの準備です。
In arai jakin we use a folded chakin in a flat bowl filled with cold water, which makes the atmosphere refreshing.
お薄をいただく前、涼しさを皆で感じながらのひと時でした。
All the elements in the procedure and its decor—the green leaves, cold chakin cloth, and goldfish—brought the cool breeze in the tea room on the hot summer day.
