私、コロナワクチン2回目を受けて、２週間が経過しました。一応、コロナ対策を考えて一度に2人限定のゲストをお迎えしてお茶を経験していただきました。ゲストは陶芸教室のトム先生と生徒さんたちです。
Now, after a year-long pandemic, the students and I who have already had the COVID vaccine shots feel a little safer. Last week we welcomed a potter, Tom, and his five students from a local pottery class to our Junshin-An tearoom. We took precautions by limiting the number of guests to two for each of three separate sessions.

お客様が来られた日は我が家の庭の桜が満開。”桜切る馬鹿•••”の諺に逆らい、ひと枝切って床の間に飾りました。お軸は『一期一会』。二度と来ないこの出会いとひとときを大切にしたいという思いを込めました。
The cherry blossoms were in full bloom. I cut one of the tree branches from my garden and placed it in the alcove. The writing on the scroll I hung beside the flowers was ichi go, ichi e (one time, one encounter). These words mean cherish each meeting and each moment of life because no experience will ever be repeated.
先生のトムさんが以前にも我が家のお茶室にお見えになり、すっかりお茶に魅了されてお抹茶茶碗をいくつか製作され持参されました。以前の作風とまた異なった作品です。生徒さんたちにも抹茶茶碗の製作を指導されているようですが、今回は残念なことに自作の茶碗を持参された生徒さんはお一人だけでした。茶道を経験されて皆さんの製作意欲が増しますように！
It was Tom’s second visit to our tearoom. After learning how to use teabowls in the first tea ceremony, he brought new tea bowls with different textures and styles from the previous ones he had made on his wheel. One of his students has already created her own teabowls, and I’m hoping other students will be inspired to create their own.
