ある会社の方から私たちのウェブサイトを見て、電話が入りました。『顧客向けに各国の文化をズームで紹介している。今回は日本文化の茶道を取り上げたい。ズームでデモンストレーションをしていただけないでしょうか？』本番までに2回ほどズームで画像、音声の打ち合わせをして本番に臨みました。
Last month, as part of their international cultural introduction series, an American company inquired about holding a Zoom meeting of our tea ceremony for twenty of their clients. Since it was our first experience to demonstrate through Zoom, we rehearsed twice.
パソコン一台の前でのお茶の披露は私達にとっては初めての試みで、ちゃんと伝えられるか心配でしたが、事前に送ってあった床の間の軸と花の拝見などの写真を説明した後、お点前とお茶の飲み方を 説明を加えながらズームで披露しました。
Still, we were anxious and not sure how well the whole ceremony would look through a camera. Beforehand, we had sent pictures of the flower and scroll in the alcove, and on that day of the presentation, we explained about them and then demonstrated how to receive and drink tea from a teabowl.
約20名の参加があり、後程、主催者の方から、皆さん、茶道の美しさに感銘を受けられたという感想をいただいています。コロナ禍のお蔭でこんな形で茶道を紹介することもできるのだと新たな可能性を実感できる体験となりました。
Later, the company organizer notified us that everyone was pleased and impressed with the beauty of the ceremony. Pandemic gave us this unexpected opportunity to introduce our culture to others remotely rather than in person, and I am so grateful for another way to enlarge our outreach.
