夏になると、アメリカのスーパーにはチェリーが並び始めます。ほとんどは、色の濃いいわゆるアメリカンチェリーと言われる種類のものですが、時には日本のさくらんぼに似たレイナーと呼ばれるものもよく見かけるようになりました。今回は、そのヘタをとっておいて、日本のさくらんぼの形を作ってみました。他の練り切りに比べて作るのは簡単ですが、生徒さんたちからは、形が可愛いととても喜んでもらえました。
Bing cherries and Rainer cherries are popular in the US, and there are everywhere during summer. Rainer cherries, light red with a yellow hue, remind me of Japanese cherries.
This month we tried to create a wagashi sweet that looks like Rainer cherries. With the stems from real cherries, they looked more realistic and fresh and became one of the favorite wagashi we made.
